In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at Maine Crime Writers:
Barb: Some fun news. I’ve been chosen as the Featured Author of the Month for January on the Cozy Mysteries discussion group on Goodreads and Clammed Up is the featured book for March on the Cozy Discussion group on Yahoo. Also, while you’re reading this Update, I’m off at session one of the Key West Literary Seminar. The seminar focuses on a different type of writing every year, and this year is crime fiction.Vicki Doudera will be here for the second session and I’m sure there will be some blogging about it!
Kaitlyn: I’ve officially started work on the Liss MacCrimmon mystery due in September (pub date sometime in 2015), with the hope of having a rough draft (a VERY rough draft) done before I leave home for Malice Domestic at the end of April. No title yet. And no real outline other than the few pages of summary I sent to my editor to get the go-ahead to write. But I know the basics. It starts with an icy road in Maine (wonder where THAT idea came from!?!) on a dark and stormy night (really!) and Liss’s encounter with a Scottish terrier who turns out to have been the victim of a dognapping. What comes after that? I’ll pretty much be finding that out as I write, but I can guarantee a cast of quirky characters and at least one murder.
